Let's talk about some BAD writing advice today. Because you know it's out there. You know everyone is going to latch onto it like it's candy. But we know better.
Today's bad writing advice is:
"Kill all adverbs."
Listen, Reader, I am literally sitting here aghast at the audacity of whoever started this advice.
First of all, adverbs are a part of speech for good reasons! Why would we kill something that has been around since way before whoever said this?
Secondly, let's discuss how sometimes a singular verb isn't enough.
Now, I'm not saying to overdo it. There is such a thing as TOO MANY adverbs, but... Let's be real, sometimes it requires an adverb to make your point!
All in all, writing is a very personal endeavor. We cannot please everyone. And sometimes, it's best to say, "You know what? I like that adverb. She's staying."
